What is SafeForce?

SafeForce is a specialized 5-hour safety and self-defence training program designed by Resilient Hearts to support young adults with developmental disabilities in building real-world safety awareness and practical protection skills. This program combines abuse-prevention education with hands-on self-defence practice, delivered in a supportive, trauma-informed learning environment.

How Does It Work?

Part 1: Abuse Prevention Education

  • Participants develop essential safety knowledge, including:

  • Recognizing unsafe, uncomfortable, or confusing situations

  • Understanding personal rights and boundaries

  • Identifying safe vs. unsafe people

  • Using assertive communication

  • Asking for help and reporting concerns

  • Staying safe in community and online spaces

Part 2: Practical Self-Defence Training

Participants practice accessible, easy-to-learn techniques such as:

  • Protecting personal space

  • Breaking away safely from grabs or holds

  • Using strong voice and body language

  • Staying calm, aware, and grounded in stressful moments

  • Building strength, confidence, and body awareness

Who is it for?

  • Participants must be 16 years old with developmental or intellectual disability.

  • Participants must be independent to sit in classroom and practice self-defence.
​
  • Participants must be able to pay fee for the program.
